Online safety

At St George's we are passionate about online safety and ensuring children have positive experiences online.

Keeping our pupils safe online

Every device that connects to the internet is filtered and monitored by Smoothwall software. This filters out harmful and inappropriate content. Any attempt to access inappropriate content is monitored and reports sent to the Head Teacher. In extreme and very rare cases, a phone call is made to the school to alert staff to serious breaches. The Safeguarding Governor, Mrs Bader, regularly reviews any incidents with the DSL team. The Head Teacher reports on any incidents to the LGB.l.

National Safer Internet Day is celebrated in school in February.

Online Safety Week is also celebrated in May.

The link below is a free on-line safety course aimed at parents to learn more about child sexual exploitation (CSE). It is a 20 -30 minute course which provides parents and professionals with key information about CSE.

NSPCC: The internet is amazing. Children can play, learn, create and connect - opening up a whole world of exciting possibilities. But how do you keep track of what they’re doing and make sure they’re staying safe?

CEOP

CEOP help children stay safe online. Has someone acted inappropriately towards you online, or to a child or young person you know? If you have been asked to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable or someone has been insistent on meeting up, you can report it to us here.
